Definitely a couple of good games in the 6:15 PM slot on this night.  One of them took place over on Court 1 as the GAC White team was taking on a very-experienced Wash-Ups team.  The Wash-Ups team would strike first at the 8:45 mark of the opening period for a 2-0 lead and would hold the upper hand with a 19-14 advantage with 1:40 left.  However, the GAC White team made a push down the stretch and by the end of the first period, the Wash-Ups team saw its lead shrink to just one point at 19-18.  The Wash-Ups team would attempt to get some more breathing room by the 8:10 mark of the second period with a 23-20 lead but the GAC White team certainly wasn't going anywhere anytime soon and with 2:45 left, the GAC White team had this game leveled at 30 a piece.  Alarmed, the Wash-Ups team managed to get things going again to get some more breathing room again with a 35-30 lead by the halftime break.  The Wash-Ups team would maintain this five-point edge up 37-32 by the 8:40 mark of the third period and they still had the upper hand with a 43-39 advantage with 3:40 left.  But, just as before, the GAC White team would come back and have the deficit back to a scant point down 49-48 by the end of the third period.  The GAC White team would finally poke its nose out in front at 52-51 by the 7:30 mark of the fourth period and although the Wash-Ups team would take the lead back at 54-52 on a three-point bomb at the 6:05 mark, the GAC White team would have this game leveled at 54-all near the midway point and by this juncture it looked as if this one would go down to the wire.  But it was here where the Wash-Ups team was able to take things to the next level and launched a decisive 9-2 run that had them up 63-56 with 1:20 left in regulation that got them the hard-earned dub on this night......An intriguing WIAC/MIAC clash of sorts was ensuing over on Court 2 where the UW-Stout team was taking on the St. Olaf team.  The St. Olaf team would grab a 2-1 lead by the 7:45 mark of the opening period but the UW-Stout team would answer the bell and hold an 11-7 lead with 2:20 left.  Surprisingly, the St. Olaf team was able to answer with a 6-2 push down the stretch that had this game deadlocked at 13 a piece by the end of the first period.  Things were still tight by the 7:40 mark of the second period with the UW-Stout team clinging to a 15-13 lead but it was here where things turned as the UW-Stout team then launched a 10-0 run that had them up 25-13 with 3:40 left.  And the St. Olaf team was unable to answer this run which had the UW-Stout team in good shape with a 27-15 lead by the halftime break.  The UW-Stout team would maintain firm control of this game once the third period was underway and with 4:00 left they were enjoying a 32-18 advantage and they were able to increase their lead to 42-24 by the end of the third period.  The UW-Stout team would be holding onto this same 42-24 lead by the 7:25 mark of the fourth period and by the midway point they were cruising up 46-27 as they got the easy win on this night......The game on Court 3 in this time slot between the Northwestern team and the Auggies team followed the same path for the most part.  This game would be knotted at five a piece by the 6:30 mark of the opening period and by the midway point, things would still be tight with the Northwestern team up a single possession at 8-5.  The Northwestern team would nudge the lead to four at 10-6 with 2:30 left and they were able to maintain this four-point edge up 13-9 by the end of the first period.  But it was here that things started going south for the Auggies team as the Northwestern team went on a key 8-3 push that had them up 21-12 by the 6:20 mark of the second period and they were able to up that lead to 26-12 with 3:50 left.  The Auggies team was able to make a bit of a push down the stretch but they were still staring at a nine-point deficit down 29-20 by the halftime break.  The Northwestern team was able to establish a ten-point cushion up 36-26 by the 6:50 mark of the third period and they were able to maintain this cushion near the midway point with a 40-30 lead.  The Northwestern team still maintained this ten-point cushion up 42-32 with 1:30 left and then went on a 7-0 run down the stretch that widened the gap even more at 49-32 by the end of the third period.  The Auggies team wasn't able to do much in the way of whittling away at the deficit once the fourth period was underway as the Northwestern team had things in cruise control up 51-38 with 3:20 left in regulation as they got a solid win on this night......Over on Court 4, the Midway Monsters team was taking on the Team 1 team and here the Midway Monsters team was able to grab a quick 5-2 lead by the 7:10 mark of the opening period.  The Team 1 team was gradually able to shake off the slow start and forge a 6-5 lead with 3:40 left but the Midway Monsters team would have this game on even terms at 13 a piece by the end of the first period.  The Team 1 team would slowly get the upper hand once the second period was underway and hold a 21-17 lead by 6:15 mark and they would increase their lead to six at 23-17 near the midway point.  From there, the Team 1 team would get on a big run and by the halftime break, the Team 1 team appeared to be in full control with a hefty 37-24 advantage.  But the Team 1 team would see that cushion shrunk to just eight points at 43-35 by the 6:45 mark of the third period and they were still holding onto this eight-point lead at 48-40 near the midway point.  By the end of the third period, it looked as if the Team 1 team had stabilized things with a 53-43 lead.  But this pesky Midway Monsters team showed that it wasn't going anywhere anytime soon and quickly got back into single-digit range again down 53-45 by the 8:50 mark of the fourth period and things still looked a little uncertain for the Team 1 team up by just seven at 57-50 with 3:10 left in regulation.  Despite a three-point bomb before the final buzzer by the Midway Monsters team, the Team 1 team was able to escape on this night with the narrow victory.

There wasn't a lot of drama in the 7:15 PM slot on this night.  On Court 1, the GAC Gold team was taking on the UMD Dogs team and although the GAC Gold team was able to get a 3-0 lead by the 6:30 mark of the opening period, the UMD Dogs team shook off its early jitters and went on a 10-1 run to hold a 10-4 lead with 2:35 left and they would hold onto this same lead by the end of the first period.  Scoring would come at something of a premium once the second period was underway as the UMD Dogs team was eventually able to push its lead to 12-4 near the midway point and although the GAC Gold team was finally able to find some semblance of offense down the stretch, they were unable to stymie their opponent on the other end and by the halftime break, the UMD Dogs team had a ten-point cushion at its disposal up 20-10.  Things would slow down offensively for both teams once the third period was underway as the UMD Dogs team was still holding the same 20-10 lead by the 7:10 mark but the GAC Gold team finally managed to get things tightened up in this one with a 7-2 push that had the UMD Dogs team's lead down to just five at 22-17 with 2:00 left.  Down the stretch, the GAC Gold team was able to make further inroads and found themselves back to within a single possession down 26-23 by the end of the third period.  Things were still in reach for the GAC Gold team by the 6:20 mark of the fourth period as the UMD Dogs team was trying to hold on to a somewhat uncertain 34-28 lead but it was here where things fell apart for the GAC Gold team as a key 6-0 push by the UMD Dogs team had them up 40-28.  With 2:00 left in regulation, the UMD Dogs team had things in cruise control up 45-33 as they got the dub on this night......Over on Court 2, the Backcourt Baddies team was taking on the Royal Ballers team and this one would be tight early on with the Backcourt Baddies team holding a 6-4 lead by the 6:20 mark of the opening period.  But the Backcourt Baddies team would then get things in gear and build a 21-11 advantage with 2:30 left and they would have themselves in good shape by the end of the first period up 23-14.  The Backcourt Baddies team would re-establish the double-digit advantage up 29-18 by the 7:15 mark of the second period and with 1:45 left it definitely looked like the Backcourt Baddies team was running away with this one up 39-21.  By the halftime break, the Backcourt Baddies team was enjoying a 40-23 advantage.  Not much would change once the third period was underway with the Backcourt Baddies team up 44-23 by the 8:15 mark and the Royal Ballers team wasn't able to make up much in the way of ground as the Backcourt Baddies team still owned a 49-33 lead with 3:30 left.  By the end of the third period, the Backcourt Baddies team had established a twenty-point cushion up 56-36.  To their credit, the Royal Ballers team made a bid to draw closer once the fourth period was underway as an 8-0 push had the deficit down to twelve at 56-44 by the 7:25 mark but that comeback effort would soon run out of gas as the Backcourt Baddies had a 6-46 lead with 3:05 left in regulation as they claimed a solid win on this night......Court 3 in this time slot featured another blowout game as the St. Kate's team took on the Anoka-Ramsey team.  Things would be reasonably tight in the early going as the St. Kate's team held a 12-8 lead with 2:40 left in the opening period but a gamey Anoka-Ramsey team would answer with a 6-2 push that had this game leveled at 14 a piece by the end of the first period.  Things would still appear tight once the second period was underway as the St. Kate's team had a tenuous one-point lead at 17-16 by the 9:30 mark and it was still just a four-point game near with midway point with the St. Kate's team up 20-16.  It was here, however, that the St. Kate's team used a key 8-3 push down the stretch that changed the complexion of this game as the St. Kate's team now enjoyed a 28-19 lead by the halftime break.  The St. Kate's team was able to maintain this nine-point edge up 31-22 by the 7:20 mark of the third period and a 6-0 push by the St. Kate's team pushed their cushion to fifteen at 37-22 near the midway point.  With 1:30 left, the St. Kate's team maintained the fifteen-point edge at 39-24 and grew that by the end of the third period up 43-26.  By the midway point of the fourth period, the St. Kate's team was rolling up 53-26 as they romped to an easy win......A much tighter affair was ensuing over on Court 4 between the Sara's Shooters team and the UW-Stout team which was doing double-duty on this night.  The UW-Stout team would get off to a decent enough start up 5-zip by the 8:00 mark of the opening period but the Sara's Shooters team would soon get this game leveled at five a piece near the midway point.  Fittingly, both team would find themselves entangled in an 11-11 tie by the end of the first period.  The Sara's Shooters team would push out in front by a 16-14 count by the 6:45 mark of the second period but their lead would be down to a single digit at 23-22 with 2:00 left.  By the halftime break, the UW-Stout team had done just enough to nudge itself into the lead up 27-26.  The UW-Stout team would get some more breathing room up 31-26 by the 7:20 mark of the third period and they were able to maintain this five-point edge up 35-30 with 3:15 left.  But the Sara's Shooters team was able to climb back to within a single possession down 35-32 with 2:30 left and the Sara's Shooters team had this game deadlocked at 37-all by the end of the third period.  The Sara's Shooters team would then hold the upper hand with a 40-37 lead by the 9:05 mark of the fourth period and would still own a 43-41 lead by the 6:35 mark.  But it was here where the UW-Stout team showed its mettle as they launched a key 10-3 push that had them up 51-46 lead with 3:00 left in regulation and they were able to maintain this five-point cushion down the stretch to claim the hard-earned win.

Not a lot of drama in the 8:15 PM slot on this night either.  Two mixed/alumni teams- Da Birthdays and the Free Agents - went head to head on Court 1.  The Free Agents team would get off to a decent start in this one as they would hold an 8-6 lead by the 7:10 mark of the opening period and they would at least hold onto this lead near the midway point.  But from there, the Da Birthdays team would get on game-changing 16-3 run that had them up 22-11 by the end of the first period.  The Da Birthdays team would maintain this eleven-point cushion up 30-19 near the midway point of the second period and grow its lead to 36-19 with 2:15 left and would still hold a cozy 41-28 advantage by the halftime break.  The Da Birthdays team would be up 47-34 by the 7:30 mark of the third period and would then get on another big run as their lead ballooned to 56-34 with 3:15 left and they would hold a 56-37 lead by the end of the third period.  By the 7:10 mark of the fourth period, the Da Birthdays team was running away with this one up 61-37 as they rolled to an easy win......One of the better games on this night went down on Court 2 where the GAC Black team was taking on the Granny's Got Game team.  Both teams would score on their initial possessions which had this game leveled at two a piece by the 9:20 mark of the opening period and this one would stay tight throughout most the first period.  With 1:50 left the Granny's Got Game team would be holding an 11-9 advantage but then managed to get on a 5-0 push down the stretch to own a 16-9 lead by the end of the first period.  The GAC Black team was quick to respond, however, as they closed the gap to a single possession down 17-15 by the 7:40 mark of the second period and a bit later with 4:20 left, the GAC Black team got this game knotted up again at 19-all.  The GAC Black team would use this newfound momentum to go on a bit of a spurt down the stretch and hold a 26-22 lead by the halftime break.  By the 8:35 mark of the third period, the GAC Black team saw its lead shrink to just two at 28-26 but a key 10-4 push by the GAC Black team gave them some more breathing room up 38-30 with 4:15 left.  The Granny's Got Game team went to work down the stretch of this third period as the GAC Black team's lead would be cut to six at 38-32 with 2:00 left and then would be down to five at 40-35 by the end of the third period.  To their credit, the GAC Black team didn't flinch when things appeared a bit dicey by the start of the fourth period and they were able to build up a cushion as they upped their lead to six at 44-38 by the 6:00 mark and got it to seven at 47-40 with 4:10 left in regulation.  With 2:00 left in regulation, the GAC Black team had this game pretty much in the bag up 49-40 as they got the win on this night......Two more mixed/alumni teams were going at it over on Court 3 as the Swish team took on the Cross Era team.  The Swish team would grab a 5-2 advantage in this one by the 8:20 mark of the opening period and then worked quickly to seize control as they built their lead to 20-9 with 1:10 left and they held this lead by the end of the first period.  The Cross Era team continued to struggle on the offensive end once the second period was underway and that allowed the Swish team to expand its lead to 27-15 with 3:20 left before the Cross Era team was finally able to break out of its doldrums and get the deficit narrowed back to within single digits down eight at 30-22 by the halftime break.  But the Swish team was able to snuff out this comeback attempt as they were able to re-establish the double-digit cushion up 35-22 by the 7:50 mark of the third period and they would maintain this thirteen-point cushion up 40-27 with 3:30 left.  By the end of the third period, the Swish team still had the upper hand with a 45-34 advantage.  By the 6:25 mark of the fourth period, the Swish team was in full control up 51-36 as they coasted to a relatively easy win on this night......A very interesting game was going down over on Court 4 between the Ball Busters team and the Team Jody team.  This one would be leveled at four a piece by the 8:15 mark of the opening period but the Team Jody team got things going on their end and built a 15-6 lead with 2:05 left and had a double-digit cushion up 20-9 by the end of the first period.  The Ball Busters team was then able to break out of its extended slumber and would launch a key 10-3 run that cut the Team Jody team's lead down to just four at 23-19 by the 6:30 mark of the second period and this momentum eventually allowed the Ball Busters team to snare the lead away as they would be up 34-31 with 1:40 left and by the halftime break, the Ball Busters team was able to get the lead to five at 36-31.  The Team Jody team would respond once the third period was underway as the crawled back to within a single possession down 36-33 by the 8:50 mark and the Team Jody team would manage to take the lead back at 40-38 near the midway point.  This lead would be short-lived, however, as the Ball Busters team took their cue and came back to hold a 42-40 lead with 2:10 left and would hold a 45-42 advantage with 1:10 left.  The Ball Busters team would then use a 6-3 spurt in the last minute to up their lead to 51-45 by the end of the third period.  The Team Jody team was never able to recover from this setback as the Ball Busters team got its lead to eight at 55-47 by the 6:10 mark and gradually pulled away from there to claim the easy win.

Another big night of action awaits this next Wednesday night at the Midtown YWCA Women's College Summer League so make sure you get down to catch all the action.
