First Regional Rankings Announced On 2-6-19
I didn't get a chance to put this into my blog this last week but the very first regional rankings came out this last week Wednesday and here's how things look in the West Region at the moment:
1. UST 22-1 16-0
2. Wartburg 20-3 13-1
3. Augsburg 19-4 14-2
4. George Fox 20-3 13-1
5. Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 20-2 12-1
6. Whitman 18-5 12-2
7. Loras 19-4 12-2
8. UW-Superior 22-2 14-1
Despite Wartburg's victory over UST down in Waverly just before the first of the year, I don't think there's too much doubt about the Tommies being in the top spot right now given their better record. Again, I think Augsburg is in very good shape given what we see right here and I think that as long as they make the MIAC Championship Game, they shouldn't have too much to worry about. George Fox is in a very familiar situation in the NWC and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps is in good shape holding the top spot in the SCIAC. Whitman is in a similar situation as they were last year in the second spot in the NWC and they can ill-afford a slip-up. While I think UW-Superior takes care of things in the UMAC, the interesting one here is Loras out of the American Rivers Conference (formerly IIAC). I think they'll at least need to make the ARC Championship Game to have a chance but again, it's really early here.
