Not much drama over on Court 1 during the 6:15 P.M. slot that saw the GAC Gold team taking on their elders from the GAC Alumni team as the GAC Alumni team got out to an early 7-0 lead in the opening period and stretched that lead to 18-9 late in the first period.  A strong offensive rebound and putback by Miranda Rice (GAC '18) pushed that lead to 20-9 by the end of the first period.  To their credit, the GAC Gold team finally found some footing in the second period that allowed them to cut into the deficit and by the 5:40 mark they had crawled back to within a single possession down 24-22.  It was here, however, where the GAC Alumni team stepped on the gas again and rebuilt their lead that upped their advantage to 35-26 at the half.  The GAC Gold team would make a bid early on in the third period for another comeback attempt; cutting the deficit to single digits again down 37-28 but the GAC Alumni would put this one away for good as they stretched their lead to 46-30 by the end of the third period.  By the 7:10 mark of the fourth period, the GAC Alumni team was safely up 53-39 and they would put it in cruise control the rest of the way for  the easy win.  Meanwhile, over on Court 2, things were tight early on between the Melting Pots team (a team composed of current Luther players) and the Guards of the Galaxy team (a team primarily made up of former GAC players) as the latter held a slim 5-4 advantage at the 7:30 mark of the opening period.  But the Guards of the Galaxy team would soon embark on an 8-0 push that would give them some separation with a 13-4 lead with 3:38 left in the first period and by the end of the first period, they enjoyed a ten-point cushion up 18-8.  The Melting Pots team would continue with their struggles on the offensive end that allowed the Guards of the Galaxy team to stretch its lead even more to 29-13 by the 5:55 mark of the second period and with 2:00 left in the second period, the Melting Pots team was in serious doo-doo down 39-15.  By the halftime break, the Guards of the Galaxy team was rolling up 41-15 and although the Melting Pots team was able to cut into the deficit a bit by the midway point of the third period, the Guards of the Galaxy team was still up comfortably 42-22 and the situation didn't change much by the end of the third period with the Guards of the Galaxy team up 52-33.  To their credit, the Melting Pots team would cut into the deficit and get it down to fourteen at 56-42 with 4:08 left in the fourth period but the Guards of the Galaxy would soon put the finishing touches on this one down the stretch for the easy win.......One of the better games of the night took place over on Court 3 between the Northwestern team and the Hamline team in a UMAC/MIAC clash of sorts.  The Northwestern team would get off to a good start in this one; taking a 5-0 lead with 4:20 left in the opening period in what was turning out to be a rather low-scoring affair.  The Northwestern team still enjoyed a 9-5 advantage by the end of the first period but the Hamline team would tighten things up once the second period got underway as the contest stayed even and a late jumper would propel the Hamline team in front by an 18-16 count at the halftime break.  The Hamline team would continue to hold the upper hand once the third period got underway as they would hold a 29-23 advantage with 3:40 left and they would maintain that six-point edge up 31-25 by the end of the third period.  The Northwestern team would manage to at least stay within striking distance as they had the deficit reduced to five at 38-33 with 4:40 left but they could never quite get that one big score or moment that might've turned the tide for them as the Hamline team claimed a tough victory in a hard-fought contest.

The other eye-opener on this night took place on Court 1 in the 7:00 P.M. slot that saw the Carleton team take on the Concordia St Paul team in something of an unusual MIAC/NSIC match-up.  Things would be knotted at two early on in the contest and this back-and-forth battle would stay close with the Carleton team holding a 13-11 advantage at the end of the first period.  But in the second period, this gamey Carleton team got on a bit of a roll and opened up a lead; getting a 32-25 advantage late in the second period and enjoying a 34-28 lead at the half.  The Concordia St Paul team then caught some fire once the third period got underway as they tightened things up again; cutting the Carleton team's lead down to just two at 37-35 midway through the third period.  The Concordia St Paul team would get this one knotted at 37 a piece with 2:54 left but just when the Carleton team appeared to be vulnerable, they hunkered down and embarked on a 5-0 push to give themselves a bit more breathing room with a 42-37 lead with 1:40 left in the third period.  Undeterred, the Concordia St Paul team would make yet another bid to get this game leveled as they would cut the Carleton team's lead down to just one at 51-50 at the 7:15 mark of the fourth period and they would finally earn a 53-all deadlock at the 5:15 mark.  But the Concordia St Paul team would hit a dry streak down the stretch and the Carleton team did what they had to do to earn the tough victory.  Over on Court 2, two old MIAC rivals were going at it as the Macalester team was taking on the CSB team.  Although the Macalester team got off to a decent start in this one; holding an 8-4 advantage by the 7:25 mark of the first period, they were a bit short-handed on this night and it didn't take long for a deeper and more refreshed CSB team to grab control as they would storm back to take a 21-11 lead late in the first period and grow it to 24-11 by the end of the first period.  The CSB team would maintain its double-digit lead throughout the second period and would hold a 34-21 lead with 2:45 left in the second period and although the Macalester team was able to trim some of the fat off of the deficit by the halftime break down 34-25, they likely had to know it was going to be an uphill battle the rest of the way.  Still, the Macalester team was able to hang tough for a good chunk of the third period; down 36-28 midway through but it didn't take long for the depth of the CSB team to wear down its opponent and by the end of the third period, the CSB team was back up by double-digits again at 43-30.  The CSB team would maintain its double-digit advantage throughout the fourth period to earn the win.  A somewhat similar story was taking place over on Court 3 between the Augsburg team and the Midwest Basketball team (a team comprised primarily of Jamestown players).  The Augsburg team would certainly get off to a good start in this one; up 8-2 at the 6:00 mark of the first period and they would hold a 10-4 advantage midway through the first period.  But it didn't take long for things to start going south for the Augsburg team as the Midwest Basketball team would usurp control of this one; going on a 15-1 blitz to grab a 19-11 lead by the 6:35 mark of the second period but a resourceful Augsburg team would get things turned around and climb back to within a single possession down 21-18 by the halftime break.  The Augsburg team looked like it was going to stay right in the thick of things; down just 24-20 early on in the third period but the Midwest Basketball team would hit the switch again to increase its lead by nine at 35-26 by the end of the third period.  The Augsburg team would try desperately to stay within striking distance once the fourth period got underway but they never could get it close again and a back-breaking "3" with 3:40 left had the Midwest Basketball team up by ten at 46-36 enroute to the victory.

In the 7:40 P.M. slot, a MIAC/WIAC clash was taking place on Court 1 as the Bethel team faced off against the UW-River Falls team.  Scoring would come at a premium early on in this contest but that seemed to benefit the UW-River Falls team as they would cling to a 6-4 advantage midway through the opening period and hold that lead to start the second.  Things still looked good for the UW-River Falls team as they were up 15-13 by the 7:30 mark of the second period and a "3" would increase that lead to 18-13 by the 5:40 mark.  By the halftime break, the UW-River Falls team held a 23-15 advantage and seemed to be in control things.  But the Bethel team; which had arguably struggled a bit at times early on in the contest, quickly got this one turned around once the third period got underway.  A 10-2 run would level this game at 25 by the 7:00 mark of the third period and a "3" would push the Bethel team ahead in this one 28-27 by the 5:24 mark and the UW-River Falls team never could recover.  The Bethel team would unleash yet another run that would have them up by tean at 39-29 by the end of the third period.  The Bethel team would extend its lead to 47-31 by the 6:30 mark of the fourth period enroute to a big win......An interesting contest - at least in team names anyway - was taking place on Court 2 that featured the Old But Not That Old team (a squad of former players from various schools) going up against the St. Olaf team.  The Old But Not That Old team hardly looked that old at all as they bolted out to a 7-0 lead midway through the first period as recent UST grad Madi Radtke would put the punctuation mark on this early lead on a pretty drive and finish.  But the Old But Not That Old team was just getting started as their lead would double to 14-0 late in the first period before the St. Olaf team could finally dust off the cobwebs forming on their basket and by the end of the first period, they were on the wrong end of a 17-4 score.  The St. Olaf team would start making some inroads on the deficit once the second period got underway but they were still staring at a ten-point deficit at 26-16 with 3:15 left in the second period and the Old But Not That Old team would go on yet another run; punctuated by a "3" before the buzzer to hold a cozy 34-20 halftime advantage.  And the Old But Not That Old team would pick up right where they left off once the third period got underway as a Radtke lay-up helped them establish a 39-25 advantage early on although the St. Olaf team would have that whittled down a bit by the end of the third period at 49-38.  But any hopes of a meaningful comeback by the St. Olaf team were soon dashed as the Old But Not That Old team would soon widen its lead again enroute to a twenty-point victory.  Over on Court 3, it was a battle of two MIAC rivals as the St. Kate's team was taking on the GAC Black team and this one would be close - early on anyway.  The St. Kate's team would hold a 6-4 advantage midway through the opening period and a jumper by senior-to-be Bree Glynn would push the lead to 8-4 a bit later.  The GAC Black team would respond with a push of its own to forge a 10-10 tie with 3:15 left and the GAC Black team would hold a 14-12 advantage by the end of the first period.  An 8-0 push by the GAC Black team out of the gates in the second period changed the tone of this contest for good as they would hold a 20-12 lead midway through the second period and by the halftime break, the GAC Black team would be up by double-digits at 25-14.  The GAC Black would maintain this eleven-point edge throughout much of the third period; up 28-17 with 3:45 left but still another push - punctuated by a three-point bomb by senior-to-be Anna Sanders - stretched the lead to 39-17 by the end of the third period.  The St. Kate's team could do little offensively afterward and by the midway point of the fourth period, the GAC Black team was rolling; up 47-21 enroute to a blowout victory.
