Midtown YWCA Women's College Summer League Update - And Another MIAC Coaching Vacancy

So just wanted to update everybody on the upcoming Midtown YWCA Women's College Summer League.  Things get underway tomorrow (Tuesday 6-4) night and the first two weeks will have games on both Tuesday and Wednesday evenings in the 6:15, 7:15 and 8:15 PM slots before things revert to a Wednesday evening format the rest of the way.  And the league will take a week off during the fourth of July and resume again on Wednesday 7-10.  A lot of interesting new teams and some familiar ones as well just from what I've seen on this week's schedule so you'll definitely want to get down to catch the action.  And I'll be down there to cover what I can too.

Also wanted to touch on the somewhat unexpected retirement announcement coming out of Augsburg this afternoon with Ted Riverso stepping away after nine seasons at the helm.  Riverso came to Augsburg back in 2015 after the untimely passing of then head coach Bill McKee and inherited a program that was looking to get to the upper echelon in the conference.  It took a few years but Riverso finally had a title contender in both 2019 and 2020 with his famed "Fab 5" squad that reached the MIAC Championship Game in both seasons.  In the 2021-22 season, Riverso got his team to yet another MIAC Championship Game as well.  It's unfortunate to this day that none of these great Auggie teams were selected to go to the NCAA Tournament but it's safe to say that Riverso took the program to new heights during his tenure.  Now the question for Augsburg AD Jeff Swenson is who do they try and get to fill the vacancy.  Keep in mind that it's one thing to have a vacancy for a head coaching position in March/April when the proverbial coaching carousel starts going around.  Quite another when you get to June and the said carousel has slowed considerably.  Still, it's a very good job and it'll be interesting to see who they ultimately select for the position.  In any event, best wishes to Ted Riverso in his future endeavors.

So it should be a fun time down at the Midtown YWCA beginning tomorrow night.  Hope to see you all there!
