In the 6:15 PM slot over on Court 1, the UW-Stout team would grab an early 1-0 lead on a free throw but the Luther team would manage to forge ahead at 3-1 on a "3" at the 7:40 mark of the opening period.  That was about the lone bright spot for the Luther team on this night.  Still, this game would be leveled at 10-10 with 3:10 left in the first period but the UW-Stout team would poke its nose out in front at 12-10 with 2:45 left and that lead would grow to 17-12 with 1:57 left.  One free throw by senior-to-be Raegan Sorenson upped the lead to 18-12 with 1:10 left and that lead would grow to 20-12 by the end of the first period.  The UW-Stout team's lead would get to double-digits at 24-12 by the 7:45 mark of the second period and slowly grow to 28-15 by the 6:31 mark.  By the halftime break, the UW-Stout team was up comfortably at 39-22.  The roof would cave in for the Luther team once the third period got underway as the UW-Stout team lead would grow to 50-25 at the 7:25 mark and that lead would bulge to forty at 67-27 with 2:15 left in the third period.  By the 6:40 mark of the fourth period, UW-Stout was rolling up 75-30 enroute to the blowout victory......Over on Court 2, two old MIAC rivals were going at it as the CSB team was taking on the Lions Black (the other GAC team).  The Lions Black team would come out of the gates quickly in this game; getting a 7-0 lead by the 6:15 mark of the opening period and would still hold a 7-2 lead with 4:00 left in the first period.  Curiously, the Lions Black team hit a rough patch and that provided an opening for the CSB team to take advantage which they did as they would embark on a 15-2 run to hold a surprising 17-9 lead by the end of the first period.  But the Lions Black team was undaunted by all this as they battled to quickly get back into this game once the second period got underway.  Graduate senior Syd Hauger would bury a big three-point bomb that got the Lions Black team back to within a single possession down 17-14 and the Lions Black team would cap this 8-0 burst by the 7:35 mark by getting this game tied at 17 and this contest would still be leveled at 19 midway through the second period.  Two free throws by Hauger with 3:45 left gave the Lions Black team a 23-19 lead and the Lions Black team would hold a 25-22 edge by the halftime break.  The Lions Black team would maintain this three-point edge at 27-24 when fellow graduate senior Izzy (Izzy Izzy, you're making me dizzy) Quick made a pretty drive for a finish early in the third period but Quick was just getting started on this night as she started getting things done on both ends of the floor.  Her efforts enabled the Lions Black team to hold a 33-24 advantage midway through the third period and with 2:04 left in the third period, a Quick jumper now had the Lions Black team up double digits at 37-24 and the Lions Black team would maintain this thirteen-point edge up 40-27 by the end of the third period.  The CSB team would make one last bid to get things tightened up again once the fourth period got underway as they would cut the Lions Black team's lead to 40-31 at the 6:45 mark and there was still a ray of hope with 4:00 left with the Lions Black team's lead down to eight at 44-36 but the CSB team could never get any closer and the Lions Black closed this game out on another run to get the convincing victory........Over on Court 3, the Arden Hills team (Bethel) was taking on The Currey Crew and the latter bolted out of the gates fast in this contest as they would find themselves up 11-4 by the midway point of the first period but the Arden Hills team would manage to tighten things up a bit down the stretch as The Currey Crew team's lead was cut to 16-11 by the end of the first period.  The Arden Hills team would continue to hang tough once the second period got underway as they would reduce the deficit to four at 26-22 midway through the second period and in the latter stages of the second period, the Arden Hills team had crawled back to within a single possession down 28-26 and two late free throws had this game leveled at 28 by the halftime break.  But the Arden Hills team would hit a rough patch of their own once the third period got underway as The Currey Crew team would forge ahead by a 34-28 count by the 6:35 mark of the third period and this game-changing 11-0 run by The Currey Crew had them up 39-28 midway through the third period.  By the end of the third period, The Currey Crew team had a much more comfortable 46-32 advantage and they would maintain this fourteen-point cushion up 54-40 by the 6:15 mark of the fourth period.  With 2:35 left, there was little doubt as to how this one was going to end up as The Curry Crew team was holding a 63-45 lead.

The 7:15 PM slot was another crazy time with four games going on.  On Court 1, the UW-Stout team; doing double-duty on this night, faced off with the Lions Gold team which ordinarily should have been a very much-anticipated matchup.  But the Lions Gold team was a bit short-handed on this night with only six players but they still kept things tight early on.  The UW-Stout team would take a 2-0 lead on a steal and lay-up the other way early on in the opening period but this game would be leveled at 10-all with 2:15 left in the first period.  A late run by the UW-Stout team gave them a bit more breathing room by the end of the first period with a 17-13 lead.  The UW-Stout team began taking advantage of the situation once the second period got underway as they would grow their lead to 25-16 by the 6:30 mark but the Lions Gold team would hang tough down the stretch; closing the gap to five at 27-22 with 1:30 left but the UW-Stout team would grow the lead to eight at 30-22 by the halftime break.  The UW-Stout team would establish a ten-point cushion at 35-25 at the 7:15 mark of the third period and by the end of the third period, that lead would expand to eighteen points at 52-34.  By the 6:30 mark of the fourth period, the UW-Stout team was running away with this one at 60-38 as they coasted to an easy win......A bit of a tighter matchup over on Court 2 between the UNW Eagles team and the Anoka-Ramsey team.  The Anoka-Ramsey team would hold a 3-2 edge at the 7:50 mark of the opening period but the UNW Eagles team would turn the tables and hold a 9-8 advantage with 3:50 left and they would maintain this one-point edge at 12-11 with 2:00 left in the first period.  By the end of the first period, the UNW Eagles team was able to establish a bit more breathing room with a 16-11 lead.  By the 2:15 mark of the second period, the UNW Eagles team grew its lead to 27-18 and by the halftime break they would own a ten-point cushion at 33-23.  The Anoka Ramsey team was able to momentarily crawl back to within single digits down 36-28 by the 6:00 mark of the third period but the UNW Eagles team would embark on another run to restore the double-digit advantage at 43-28 by the end of the third period.  The UNW Eagles team would maintain this cushion with a 48-34 lead at the 6:25 mark of the fourth period as they would claim the win on this night......Not much drama over on Court 3 in this time slot that that the KATZ team (St. Kate's) taking on the Free Agents team.  The Free Agents team wasted little time in racing out to a 12-3 advantage by the 7:25 mark of the opening period and they would up that lead to 15-3 by the midway point of the first period.  By the end of the first period, the Free Agents team already had a sizable 25-8 lead and it would only get worse for the KATZ team as the Free Agents team would be holding a 41-17 lead by the halftime break.  The Free Agents team would have a thirty-point cushion midway through the third period at 52-22 and that lead would balloon to 60-27 with 2:05 left in the third period and the Free Agents team would be up 61-32 by the end of the third period.  By the midway point of the fourth period, the Free Agents team was rolling up 77-37 as they got the blowout win on this night.........Over on Court 4, the Lions Black team was taking on The HAMster Balls team and the Lions Black team would own a 6-0 lead by the 7:05 mark of the opening period thanks to a pretty three-point bomb by graduate senior Emma (not evil) Kniefel and by the end of the first period, the Lions Black team had already established a ten-point cushion up 15-5.  With 1:45 left in the second period, the Lions Black team had upped its lead to 28-14 and they would own a 31-14 lead by the halftime break.  The HAMster Balls team would attempt to cut into this cushion and had the Lions Black team's lead down to 33-20 by the 6:15 mark of the third period but the Lions Black team would re-establish that seventeen-point lead at 42-25 with 2:45 left in the third period and they would grow that lead to 49-26 by the end of the third period.  By the midway point of the fourth period, the Lions Black team was cruising with a 59-30 advantage and they coasted the rest of the way.

Another double night of action coming up this next week with games on both Tuesday and Wednesday nights so make sure you get yourself down to the Midtown YWCA Women's College Summer League to catch all the action.
